An Era of Co-Creating New Learning with AI
Where Should University Education Be Headed?
Generative AI, which enables the creation of high-quality texts and images based on users’ intentions, is rapidly transforming the way we live and work.
In higher education as well, there is a growing demand to shift from traditional education focusing on knowledge transmission and acquisition to approaches that emphasize the cultivation of critical thinking and collaborative learning. We are entering a new era in which both faculty and students are expected to think, learn, and co-create knowledge together with AI.
This symposium explores how we can envision new forms of learning by embracing AI not only as a “supporting technology” but also as a “partner in learning.” In this symposium, we will consider the future directions that university education should take in the age of AI.
We will welcome leading experts and practitioners at the forefront of educational technology, AI research, and higher education reform. Through keynote lectures and panel discussions, we will examine the future of learning in the AI era from multiple perspectives. Topics will include case studies of AI-enhanced educational practices, responses to ethical issues, fostering learner agency and creativity, and rethinking the educational mission of universities, addressed from both theoretical and practical viewpoints.
The symposium aims to serve as a platform for dialogue where educators, researchers, students, and practitioners can come together to reimagine the role of university education in the “era of learning with AI.”
