第3回FD研修：授業英語化
The 3rd FD Seminar for English-Medium Instruction
概要：Overview
グローバル化の進展とともに，本学の学生の英語力の増強をはかるために，また，外国人留学生の増加に対応するために，英語を媒介語として使用する授業形態（English-Medium Instruction，以下EMI）の必要性が高まっています。一方で，我が国のように英語が第一言語でない国や地域では，専門科目を英語で教える場合，学習内容の理解をどのように確保するかが重要な課題となります。本学においても，教育改革により大学院のEMIによる授業の割合が90％を超えており，量的な拡大だけでなく，質的な充実も求められています。
そこで，本セミナーでは，学習者中心の教授スキルを英語で体験することにより，学生の理解を深めるEMIのあり方を考えます。英語を使用して学習者中心の活動を体験したい先生，学習理論に基づく教授ストラテジーを理解したい先生の参加をお待ちしています。
With the advance of globalization, there is an increasing need for English-medium instruction (EMI) in order to enhance the English proficiency of domestic students and to accommodate the increasing number of international students. On the other hand, in countries and regions where English is not the first language such as Japan, the key issue is how to ensure that students understand what they are learning in specialized courses taught in English. In our university, the percentage of classes taught by English in the graduate school has exceeded 90% as a result of the educational reform, and not only quantitative expansion but also qualitative enrichment is required. Therefore, in this seminar, we will consider how EMI can deepen students’ understanding by experiencing learner-centered teaching skills in English.
This seminar is designed for non-native English-speaking faculty and staff to think about how learner-centered EMI should be through practice. We look forward to the participation of faculty and staff who want to experience learner-centered activities using English and who want to understand teaching strategies based on learning theory in Tokyo Tech!

東京都立大学国際センター特任助教。The University of Findlay – TESOL and Bilingual Education修士課程卒業。2010年から静岡大学，2013年からは立教大学にて留学支援や国際交流事業に従事する傍ら，大学英語授業のコミュニカティブな言語活動や対話への態度育成に有効なアクティビティのあり方などを研究。2018年より東京都立大学（旧首都大学東京）国際センターにてアジア国際学生会議参加のための正課外ゼミを担当。

内容：Content
本研修では，従来の教授法が一方的な講義に偏っていたという観点から，積極的に学生の授業参加を促すための質問方法や問いかけ方について考えます。初級コースでは，学習環境や授業計画を考え、英語の質問のタイプについて理解を深めます。さらに質問内容を評価するという活動を行います。続く中級コースでは，シチュエーションを考えていくつかの質問を使ってロールプレイを行い，学生の積極的な参加を促進することができる学習者中心の活動について考えます。
Traditional instructional models rely on lecture-style presentations of individual lessons, limiting student engagement to activities in which they work in small groups on application tasks devised by the instructor. In this training course, participants will be given pointers how to ask questions and encourage students to active participation in the classroom.
First, several types of questions are used in the basic course. The course also includes activities in which participants evaluate the questions they ask. In the intermediate course, participants will learn how to ask questions in a way that encourages students to actively participate in the class from the viewpoint of the professor’s bias. The participants will use several questions in a given situation, do role-play, and then evaluate their performance.

初級：参加者は授業で活用できるアクティビティの使い方のポイントを理解し, 使えるようになる。
Basic: By the end of the session, participants will be able to understand how to use activities that can be utilized in the classroom.
中級：参加者は学生の反応を理解し，学生の積極的な参加の促進をすることができる。
Intermediate: By the end of the session, participants will be able to understand students’ reactions and promote their active participation.
